Many work from home opportunities will promise you a quick way to make a lot of money from home without having any qualifications, skills or expertise. The catch usually is that before starting any work you have to money up front. This money can be a 'registration fee' or necessary to 'reveal the secret'.
There are many different types of work from home and business opportunity scams. Here are some examples:
Addressing or stuffing envelopes
You are asked to pay a registration fee to join a scheme. In return you get simple advice on how to place similar advertisement to the one you have fallen for to attract other people into the scam. Schemes like this are in fact pyramid selling scams.
Home assembly kits
You are asked to pay a fee to receive a kit for making things from baby boots and aprons to toys. The scammer will usually say that your work is sub-standard and refuse to pay for the good you make. And when you try to sell them yourself you will probably find that there is no market for the things you made anyway.
Home working directories
Again you have to pay a fee. And all you will receive is a directory of other companies offering work from home opportunities.
